Spine is slightly sunned, Boards are bumped and frayed a bit. Text block is browned throughout. Binding remains tight. Previous owner's bookplate and signature on the pasted and on first free endpapers. Arrowsmith won the 1926 Pulitzer, which Lewis declined. Four years later, he became the first American to win the Noble for literature. His strong characters and bias against capitalism's excesses are part of the enduring quality of his novels.
