First Edition. First Issue, with title page printed in blue, and "walking" for "waking" on p.80, line 1. Faded blue topstain, foxing in textblock but tight and solid. Fading on boards, deep dent in spine but foil is intact. Light stains on endpapers.  Condition: Good.  Dustjacket; Fair.  Dustjacket is unclipped, with noticeable discoloration, wear, tears and rubbing to extremities. The author's posthumously-published Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. An unusual note in frontmatter, recording the saga surrounding the rescue of this manuscript.
