Hardcover: Very Good. First Edition. First Edition (1889 on copyright page). With numerous Dan Beard illustrations throughout the text. Second State without the "S-like" ornament on p. 59. Dark green woven cloth stamped brightly and elaborately in gilt and black on the front boards and the spine. There is the lightest touch of wear to the top and bottom of the spine ends but heavy rubbing at the corners.  Front endpapers dog-eared, Page 23 has unknown stain. Even toning throughout. A few pages have heavy foxing. Binding is generally tight, with some pages loosened.
